Maddie & Aaron proposal story

Lanesboro, MN

Maddie and I were planning a long weekend in Lanesboro, MN packed full of biking, tubing, and eating way too much food. We got to Lanesboro Thursday mid afternoon or so, with enough time to get the tent put up and head into town for some supper and drinks. We finally made it into town (the bike ride was much longer than we were prepared for) and found a fun bar and grill. We sat up at the bar and had a few fun drinks and shared a pizza. While we were eating, all I could think about was when the right time to ask Maddie was. We finished eating as the sun was setting over the bluff off in the distance. We hopped on our bikes and put on our headlights because the sun was going down quickly. As we cruised down the bike trail, I could see a secluded bridge coming up ahead and overlooked the river with the beautiful bluffs in the background and I knew that was the spot. We pulled over on the bridge to take a quick break and take in the scenery. Maddie was looking off into the distance which gave me the chance to reach into my backpack and pull out the ring. With her looking out over the bridge, I got down on one knee and told her to turn around. I hope she didn't notice that I had sweated through my shirt. Judging by the surprise on her face, I believe I had caught her by surprise. She said YES, and we were able to spend the rest of the weekend relaxing and having a great time knowing that we were engaged to be married. On Sunday we had the opportunity to announce this to our family and closest friends and the planning started soon after.
