In fact, the Loots family was an integral part in modernizing the dia-mond cutting industry of their hometown of Antwerp, Belgium. Part of the success of Henri Daussi comes from their decision to remain in Belgium. Antwerp has long been an epicenter of diamond trading. In fact, the first diamond cutters guild was es-tablished there in 1584. Over the years, the diamond trade in Antwerp grew until it became its own neighborhood, known as the Diamond Quarter. Today, Antwerp is one of the busiest dia-mond-trading cities in the world with 234 million carats passing through per year, on average. Henri Daussi continues to remain in Antwerp, having the luxury of finding unique and beautiful diamonds in one of the world’s busiest, and oldest, diamond districts.
