PROPOSAL STORY:
For weeks, Joe’s been hinting (and let’s be honest, I’ve been interrogating) about proposing. I had convinced myself that it was not happening on our trip to San Diego, though. Little did I know, he’d been planning it for weeks with my friends & his family. On Friday, his dad asked him if we could stop by his brother’s old complex to take some photos so he could list it. He handed us a key and that was that. On Saturday, Joe said we should get ready to go out & that we’d stop at his brother’s place on the way. Naturally, I wore heels and complained the whole walk over that my feet were already hurting. We got to the building and Joe told the security guard that we needed to go up to the 16th floor. He led us to 2 elevators, one on the right and one on the left. He clicked 2 buttons on the left side but then the right side opened. I walked in & we went up to floor 16. The door opened but Joe didn’t move. Instead, he pushed the lobby button again. …I was so confused. He said “we got into the wrong elevator.” I assumed it was one of those places with even side/odd side buildings so I didn’t think much of it. We got out and went in the other one & he pressed sky lounge. At this point, I was starting to question it but it happened so fast so I was still very confused. The door opened & we walked out onto the rooftop. I pretty much blacked out from then on but once I got myself together, I saw the set up. Roses, candles, greenery in the shape of a heart, his parents, my friends, and the most beautiful view I’ve ever seen were waiting for us. “History in the Making” by Darius Rucker (the first concert we went to together) played in the background. It was straight out of a fairytale. I’m still smiling like an idiot every time I think of it. I thought I’d share the moment with you all because this guy (with the help of my friends & family) deserves all of the recognition there could ever be. He made it so personalized and so perfect for me - I’ve truly never felt as cared for and loved as I do with him.
