PROPOSAL STORY:
Heather and I worked with Erin to have a ring custom designed to look exactly as Heather had envisioned her engagement ring to look like. Erin contacted me when the ring came in and when I picked it up I just knew it was perfect! Now came the difficult part... I had to plan a proposal that would be equally as impressive as Heather's ring.
About two weeks later, on August 21, 2023, we found out Heather was pregnant! After that, the proposal plans took a back seat while we made plans to let our family and friends know about Heather's pregnancy. Fast forward to October 28th, when we were having an early Thanksgiving with Heather's family before her grandparents left for Arizona. We decided it would be a good time to have our gender reveal party too, so we invited my family to join us later in the day.
The more I thought about proposing, the more it seemed like there would be no better time to do so than when we would have most of our families together. After struggling to choke down some food from our Thanksgiving feast (due to my nerves, not the quality of the food, which was excellent) it was time to find out if we were having a boy or a girl. Once the blue smoke from the gender reveal cleared (we were having a boy!), I got down on one knee with this beautiful, custom-designed, sparkling diamond ring in my hand while Heather had her back towards me. When she finally turned around and saw me down on one knee, she realized what was happening and lost it! And I apparently lost the ability to speak. There I was, down on one knee holding the ring with a big smile on my face, not saying a word and wondering why she wasn't taking the ring! Heather finally told me I had to ask her and that's when I snapped out of the daze I was in and was able to squeak out the words "Will you marry me?!" to which she said YES!
