PROPOSAL STORY:
Sam and I had met at our best friend's wedding while I was a bridesmaid and he was a groomsman. We started dating a month later, and the next year and a half seemed to just fly by. On Valentine's Day, Sam surprised me with a trip to Chicago and tickets to see my favorite Broadway musical, Moulin Rouge!, but we had to wait a whole month which felt more like six. We got to visit one of my best friends, went to some cute coffee shops, and we had reservations at this amazing seafood and steakhouse, where we had one of the most incredible dinners. We ate a little earlier in the evening so we could get to the theater early and still have enough time for a stop back at the hotel for drinks beforehand. On our way back from the restaurant, we took an alternate way to the hotel and went down by the Riverwalk. We had actually walked that same path a year prior when we had stopped there for a couple days during our trip back from Florida to Nebraska. During that trip, we probably had one of our first and only arguments and we had made up in the same spot where he was taking me in that moment. I'll be honest, we both don't remember a lot of the proposal because he was so nervous and I was so cold (it was about 40 degrees and I was in a dress not made for that weather) and we both kind of blacked out at that moment. But I do remember him kneeling down on one knee, taking out this box, opening it to find the most beautiful ring I could have ever imagined, and him saying that he wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. I, of course, said yes and we celebrated with drinks and an amazing Broadway show. It couldn't have been more perfect!
