PROPOSAL STORY:
Megan, our friend and photographer, had invited me and a bunch of other girls to what she called a little “Girlsgiving.” She told us to dress cute because she wanted to take Christmas card type photos, which sounded exactly like something she’d do so I didn’t think twice. That was the whole trick: I had absolutely no idea this was anything but a Thanksgiving hangout.

That day was long. I’d worked all day, I was exhausted, and honestly, I didn’t even want to go. We were leaving town the next morning for actual Thanksgiving, and I still had so much to get done. But Megan kept convincing me and Alex sweetly offered to drive me since I was so tired. I thought he was just being thoughtful, meanwhile he was absolutely in on it.

When we got to the Jasper Hotel, he dropped me at the front and Megan met me inside. She was acting totally normal, distracting me while Alex ran upstairs to the ballroom to change. We ordered drinks at the bar like nothing was going on. Then Megan suddenly said the caterer needed to talk to her and dashed upstairs, leaving me waiting for our drinks.

Once the drinks were ready, I headed upstairs to meet her and that’s when I saw it all.

I walked into the ballroom and saw Alex standing there under big glowing letters that spelled out MARRY ME. Megan and her second shooter, Elise, were tucked behind their cameras, catching every reaction.

And just like that, what I thought was going to be a casual Girlsgiving turned out to be the start of our forever.
